United Airlines Flight Evacuated After Engine Issue on Houston-to-New York Route

A United Airlines flight from Houston to New York was removed before takeoff due to an engine problem, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Houston Fire Department announced on X that they are at the airport and helped passengers get off the plane. The flight was leaving from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and going to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

The fire department reports no accidents.

A passenger recorded a video showing smoke and fire coming from the plane’s wing, according to CNN station KRIV.

A flight attendant in the video is asking people to remain in their seats.

“No, it’s burning!” one traveler responds.

The 104 passengers and five crew members aboard the airplane evacuated on the runway using slides and stairs and have been rebooked on an afternoon flight, a United Airlines spokesperson told CNN in a statement.
