Woman Arrested for Drunk Driving After Crashing Into Constable Deputy’s Unit, Says EPCSO

Austin, Texas – An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) police unit was hit from behind by a 24-year-old woman early Saturday morning, February 8, in Northeast El Paso. The woman was arrested and charged with driving while impaired.

Kimberly Dominguez, 24, was arrested for driving while drunk and has a $2,000 bond set. She also had a $375 bond out for driving without a license, which was still active, according to EPCSO.

EPCSO said that around 2:50 a.m. on February 8, Special Traffic Investigators from EPCSO went to the 5300 block of Railroad Dr. to look into a car accident. Another car and a marked El Paso County Constable’s Office police unit from Precinct 1 were involved in the crash, EPCSO said.

The deputy constable was driving north on Railroad Drive to help with an active call. The officer said that he was driving his vehicle with the emergency lights on and at a slower speed than regular traffic.

They said that Dominguez didn’t see the Constable deputy’s unit and hit the back of the car, damaging the unit’s rear end badly and her own front end badly.

It was reported that the deputy constable was taken to the University Medical Center for more tests, but he or she has since been freed and is said to be doing well.

“This accident shows how dangerous drunk drivers are to everyone, including police officers.” “We are still determined to keep our roads safe and hold people responsible who drive while impaired,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said.

“The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office wants drivers to be smart, pick a sober driver, and stay alert, especially around emergency vehicles with their lights on.” “Anyone who sees someone driving carelessly or while impaired is asked to report it right away,” the news release said.
